What owners keep paying

$199.99/yr

SkyTrak course-play renewal

The Core Foresight membership doesn't stop after year one. Budget it like a gym membership you'll actually use — and note it's a promo price against a $249.99 list.

$250/yr

GSPro renewal

The dedicated-room build's software line, every year. The EYE MINI's own base software is free — GSPro is the choice, and it renews.

$69.99/dozen

Marked balls (RCT/RPT)

Radar and camera monitors both read marked balls better indoors. They scuff and wander into the net's seams like any other ball.

$275.95+per replacement

Impact screen wear

Screens are wear items — the hitting zone frays first with heavy use. That's the replacement price for Carl's Place Standard screen's smallest size, verified 08/2026.

~$35/yr

Electricity

Projector, PC, and monitor running four evenings a week. An estimate, and labeled as one — it's on the receipt because everything is.

Three complete builds — garage net, practice bay, dedicated room — itemized to the ball. Nothing rounded, nothing "starting at," nothing left for the checkout page to surprise you with, and one line explicitly labeled an estimate because pretending otherwise would be worse.

Where the money actually goes

The monitor runs 30-37% of every build here, and reaches 46% of the top build once you count the PC its monitor requires. That's the right shape: it's the only component that determines data quality, and the only one that can't be cheaply upgraded later. Screens fray, mats wear, projectors get replaced — the monitor is the decision everything else gets built around.

The corollary: never fund a monitor downgrade to afford a nicer enclosure. A $1,695 ST MAX hitting into a $295 net produces better golf data than a $499.99 radar unit inside a $4,092 enclosure.

Three receipt notes worth calling out. The Practice Bay's monitor line is the verified $1,695 sale price, not the $2,995 list — $1,300 apart at verification, which is exactly why every price on this site carries a date. The Practice Bay also carries a $467.95 framing line, because Carl's DIY enclosure kit ships the screen, the nylon enclosure and the steel fittings but not the pipes those fittings join; the DIY build guide walks that line in full. And the Dedicated Room carries an $1,100 gaming-PC line most sellers omit: Uneekor's and GSPro's published minimum specs require one, and leaving it off is how "$4,500 simulators" end up costing $12,000+.

The package-deal cross-check

Itemizing isn't the only way to buy. At verification, Shop Indoor Golf's ST MAX SIG8 package — monitor, enclosure, screen, mat, no projector — listed at $3,895 against $5,045 list, and Rain or Shine's ST MAX SwingBay package with projector at $5,649. Run any package against the itemized receipt above before assuming the bundle discount is real; sometimes it is, and the receipt is how you know.

Year two has a receipt too

Every build above is honest about day one. Below is what keeps costing after: software renewals, marked balls, screen wear, and the electricity to run a projector and PC four evenings a week. The "starting at" price never includes these. This page does.

Before you pick a build

The Garage Net needs 14 feet of depth for the R10's radar — the cheapest build needs the most room, which surprises everyone. The Practice Bay's cameras fit a 10-foot room with a 9-foot ceiling. The Dedicated Room wants 10-foot ceilings and 12 feet of depth. Check the room before falling in love with a receipt — the space guide runs the numbers in under a minute.

Frequently asked

Why does the monitor cost more than everything else combined?
In the Practice Bay build it's 30% of the all-in total, and in the Dedicated Room the monitor plus the PC it requires run to 46%. That's the right shape: the monitor is the only component that determines data quality, and the only one that can't be cheaply upgraded later. Screens fray, mats wear, projectors get replaced — the monitor is the decision.
Is it ever right to downgrade the monitor to afford a nicer enclosure?
The math says no. A $1,695 ST MAX hitting into a $295 net produces better golf data than a $499.99 R10 inside a $4,092 enclosure. Buy the monitor for the data and the room for the experience — in that order.
What assumptions are behind the break-even and cost-per-round numbers?
Break-even counts the green fees a weekly golfer stops paying: the all-in cost divided by 52 rounds a year at a $65 fee. Cost-per-round by year three divides the all-in cost plus two years of software renewals by 468 simulator rounds — three a week for three years, which is what winter-heavy sim usage actually looks like. Change either assumption and the math moves; both are stated so you can.
