Check price at PlayBetterCarl's Place DIY Enclosure Kit
4.5/5$1,853.89 standing: $1,385.94 for the 7.7'x10' kit with the Standard screen, plus $467.95 for the pre-cut 1-inch EMT frame the kit does not include. The cheapest enclosure here by $446, and it still is once the frame is on the receipt.
- 2
Check price at PlayBetterSportScreen Vanish LITE
4.3/5$2,299.99 for the Vanish LITE 9 with a hand crank, and nothing else to buy. It bolts to your wall or ceiling at two points, so the house is the frame. The screen rolls up when you're done and the room goes back to being a garage. Needs a 9-foot ceiling.
- 3
Check price at PlayBetterThe Net Return Simulator Bay Series
4.1/5$2,495 for the Sim Bay 10: a freestanding frame that assembles without tools, 250-mph netting, a floating screen and side barriers. Nothing mounts to the house. The $1,995 Sim Bay 8 was listed out of stock on 09/30/2026.
- 4
Check price at PlayBetterSportScreen Vanish Series
3.9/5$2,999.99 for the Vanish 9 at 5-foot depth with a hand crank. It's the LITE's bigger sibling, with deeper side screens and room for ceilings up to 12 feet. Adding the remote costs $1,000 here, against $250 on the LITE.
- 5
Check price at PlayBetterCarl's Place Pro Enclosure Kit
3.8/5$5,183.95 standing: $4,091.95 for the 8'x10.5' kit at 5-foot depth with the Premium screen, plus a $1,092 piping add-on. The listing is titled "Complete," yet its included-items list reads "Pipes sold separately" — the same as the DIY kit.
Five golf simulator enclosures, ranked by a number most listings don't show you: what the enclosure costs once it can actually stand up. Every price and specification below was checked on a live PlayBetter product page on 09/30/2026.
How this list is ranked
By standing price first, then by what each enclosure asks of the room. An enclosure is the most expensive line on a simulator receipt that does nothing measurable. It holds a screen and stops balls. The questions that matter are what it really costs and whether your room can take it. Rank 1 is the cheapest real enclosure on the list. The next three each solve a specific room problem. The last is the premium kit, which costs a lot more than its sticker suggests.
The sticker is not the standing price
All three Carl's Place kits PlayBetter sells (DIY, Pro and Curved) carry the same line in their included-items list: "Ball Bungees, Zip Ties, and Steel Fittings," followed by "Pipes sold separately." The fittings are connectors. The pipes they connect are a separate purchase.134
We found this on the DIY kit in August, and the DIY build guide is built around it. What we found this month is that the Pro kit, sold under the title "Complete Pro," has the same line in the same place. It's easy to miss, because the kit's sticker price shows up everywhere and the piping is an unchecked box further down the configurator.

The frame is about a quarter of the DIY kit's standing price and about a fifth of the Pro kit's. On the Pro kit, the piping add-on alone costs more than the DIY kit's entire frame twice over.23
Read the included-items list, not the product title
"Complete" is in the Pro kit's listing title. "Pipes sold separately" is in its contents. When the two disagree, go by the contents. That applies to any enclosure, not only Carl's.
You can frame either Carl's kit yourself in 1-inch EMT from a home center, and the DIY kit ships with a cut list for exactly that. We don't price that route, because we can't date a hardware-store shelf price the way we date a retailer listing. It will come in under the pre-cut set, and it will cost you a weekend.
Two ways to skip the frame entirely
Let the house be the frame. SportScreen's Vanish enclosures don't stand on the floor. They hang from brackets on your wall or ceiling, and those brackets come in the box with the screen, side curtains, ceiling panel and baffles. The Vanish LITE needs two mounting points and one outlet.5 The price you see is the price of a working enclosure, the only ones on this page where that's true without a second line. Both retract: the impact screen rolls up by hand crank or remote, and the side curtains slide back on a track.
Bring your own frame. The Net Return Sim Bay is freestanding. It ships with a high-gloss black frame that assembles without tools, 250-mph-rated netting, a floating screen and side barriers.7 Nothing attaches to the house, which matters if you rent or if the ceiling is finished drywall you'd rather not drill. It is a net with a screen hung in it, so it reads as a net bay. The listing recommends a 4:3 image because the screen is close to square.
The ceiling decides before the budget does
Every enclosure here assumes a room, and the published requirements rule some of them out before price comes into it.

The SportScreen ranges are the manufacturer's published fit ranges for the 9-foot models. The Vanish Series accepts ceilings up to 144 inches with extensions.56 The Net Return figures are minimums, and the listing adds that the depth you need varies from 14 to 22 feet depending on the launch monitor.7
Note the floor on every row: 9 feet of ceiling. An 8-foot garage rules out both retractables and the Sim Bay. On paper it leaves Carl's 7.7'x10' DIY kit, but the listing's own dimension diagram puts the assembled kit at 95.81 inches tall. That's 0.19 of an inch under an 8-foot ceiling.1 The enclosure fits. Whether your driver does is a separate question, so run the swing-arc numbers in the space guide before you shop. It's free, and it's the only step you can undo at no cost.
What the extra money buys
The ladder runs from $1,853.89 to $5,183.95, and each step up buys something specific.
$1,853.89 to $2,299.99 buys a room back. The Vanish LITE costs $446.10 more than a framed DIY kit, and for that the screen rolls away and the room goes back to its other job. If the room has no other job, this step buys you nothing.
$2,299.99 to $2,999.99 buys depth. The Vanish Series has deeper side screens, 5 feet standard against the LITE's 3, and it accepts ceilings up to 12 feet. Watch the remote line. It costs $250 on the LITE and $1,000 on the full Vanish.56
$2,999.99 to $5,183.95 buys a permanent studio. The Pro kit is a larger 8'x10.5' enclosure at 5-foot depth, with the Premium screen, BlackStop knit side walls, and a one-piece ceiling-and-wall panel. The listing says that panel cuts setup from about 3 hours to roughly 2.3 That's a real upgrade over the DIY kit, but it isn't what the $4,091.95 sticker suggests, because the sticker doesn't include the frame.
The enclosure we didn't rank
Carl's Curved kit is $5,873.95 with the Premium screen. Its piping add-on is $2,298, which makes it $8,171.95 standing. The frame is 28% of that, the largest share on any Carl's kit.4 It's a panoramic screen for large rooms and commercial bays. Ranking it against a $1,853.89 garage kit would be comparing two different purchases.
Why five, and why all from one retailer
PlayBetter is our one currently active retail partner. Every price, room requirement and included-items list above was confirmed on a live listing there on 09/30/2026. We'd rather rank five enclosures we've checked line by line than pad the list with prices we can't date. Enclosure listings are configurators, and the line that matters is often an unchecked box under the price. Each figure here carries the date it was checked, and the corrections page is where changes get logged.

Frequently asked
- How much does a golf simulator enclosure cost?
- From $1,853.89 to $5,183.95 standing up, for the five we priced on 09/30/2026. That covers a 7.7'x10' Carl's DIY kit with its frame at the low end and Carl's 8'x10.5' Pro kit with its frame at the high end. Two retractable SportScreen enclosures ($2,299.99 and $2,999.99) and the Net Return Sim Bay 10 ($2,495) sit in between. Carl's Curved kit is a different category: $8,171.95 framed. None of these numbers includes a launch monitor, projector, mat or software.
- Do golf simulator enclosure kits include the frame?
- Carl's Place kits do not, and that includes the one titled "Complete." The DIY, Pro and Curved kits all list their contents as screen, enclosure, ball bungees, zip ties and steel fittings, followed by "Pipes sold separately." Framing adds $467.95 to the 7.7'x10' DIY kit, $1,092 to the 8'x10.5' Pro kit and $2,298 to the Curved kit, or you cut the 1-inch EMT yourself. Two types skip the problem: SportScreen's Vanish enclosures mount to your wall or ceiling with brackets that come in the box, and the Net Return Sim Bay ships with its own freestanding frame.
- What ceiling height does a golf simulator enclosure need?
- For the retractable SportScreen enclosures, at least 108 inches (9 feet). That's the bottom of the published room-height range for both the Vanish LITE 9 and the Vanish 9. The Net Return Sim Bay 10 also lists a 9-foot minimum. A 9-foot ceiling holds the enclosure, though, not necessarily your swing. Check your driver's arc in our space guide before ordering anything. An 8-foot garage ceiling rules out both retractables before price comes into it, and Carl's 7.7'x10' DIY kit stands 95.81 inches assembled, which clears 8 feet by less than a quarter inch.
- Is a retractable golf simulator enclosure worth it?
- If the room has another job, yes. The Vanish LITE 9 costs $2,299.99, which is $446.10 more than a framed DIY kit. That buys a screen that rolls up and a bay that needs no frame at all, which is the whole case for parking a car in the same garage. In a room used only for golf, the retractable mechanism does nothing, and the DIY kit plus a weekend is the better use of the money.
- Should I buy an enclosure or a net?
- Buy a net if you want ball data, and an enclosure if you want to see a projected course. Every enclosure here is a $1,853.89-plus line before the projector it exists to hold. Our $1,465 garage build gets the same launch-monitor numbers with a net for less than the cheapest enclosure costs alone. The Net Return Sim Bay is the in-between option: a net with a screen hung in it, at $2,495 for the 10-foot model.
- Why is every pick from one retailer?
- PlayBetter is our one currently active retail partner. Every price, dimension and included-items list above was confirmed on a live listing there on 09/30/2026, not copied from an older article. That's also how we found the Pro kit's missing frame: by reading the listing's own contents list. As other retail partnerships come online, we'll add verified picks from other lines.
